ABOUT THIS LIBRARY
Practical professional learning for the realities of pastoral care
Pastoral staff are often the people students turn to first. The role can move quickly from everyday relationship support and check-ins to difficult disclosures, emotional distress, family challenges and significant risk.
This library was created around those realities. It brings together practical, school-specific professional learning to help pastoral and wellbeing staff respond with confidence while staying clear about the boundaries of their role.
It is not designed as a course you need to complete in order. Use the library flexibly across the year — follow a suggested learning pathway, browse by theme, or choose an individual session when a particular issue is relevant.
What the library covers
- Role, boundaries & sustainable practice — role clarity, professional boundaries, burnout, caring roles and pastoral leadership.
- Student support & conversations — practical counselling skills, adolescent development, emotional distress and compassionate responses to complexity.
- Risk & difficult situations — significant self-harm and suicide risk, family challenges and academic pressure.
- Relationships & families — parent communication, student relationships and balanced approaches to technology and wellbeing.
- Systems, collaboration & service improvement — wellbeing data, digital systems, team collaboration and whole-school pastoral structures.
Designed to be used flexibly
The Welcome and start here lesson helps you choose how to use the library and provides suggested learning pathways. Once inside, every session remains available from the LearnDash course menu, so you can move directly to what is most useful and return to the orientation page whenever you want to reset.
