Telehealth
Telehealth is ‘health-service speak’ for online appointments – typically with both video and audio, though can be audio only. Our clinic is able to provide both face-to-face and telehealth appointments. It has been a great evolution in healthcare that video/audio based appointments are now more widely available and accepted. We know that there are a lot of benefits for people who may wish to access support, including:
Convenience – for young people, they may be able to request that their education/work provide them with a private space for their appointment. For parents, it can be easier to manage the juggle if you don’t have to leave home
Comfort – some people find coming into a clinic really overwhelming. That is ok! It might be something we try to work on, but we don’t want it to be the reason you don’t get help. For young people, it is also a format that they are highly familiar, and often more comfortable, with
Effective – the evidence related to telehealth suggests that it is just as effective
Safe – during COVID-19 times, there are a number of reasons why a telehealth appointment might be preferable to a face-to-face appointment (e.g. you or your counsellor are unwell or required to quarantine)
Some information about how it works:
