Our philosophy
We love working with adolescents and young adults! We recognise that the demands on our young people are likely greater than they have ever been – the rise of competing activities and expectations, increased pressure for performance and complexity in trying to understand who you are and how you fit into this world.
Our approach to supporting you is to treat you as the unique and independent human you are, while also balancing this with making sure there is as broad a support network around you as you are comfortable with. We respect your experiences and will work with you to help develop an understanding of what is going on in your world and the next steps we can take together.
We will use a range of strategies to help support you, including thinking- and behaviour-based (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – CBT), exploring your identity and values (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy – ACT) and working with you to strengthen your relationships with others (Interpersonal Therapy – IPT). The most important strategy we will use though is that we will do this work as a team. How you connect with your counsellor is really important to supporting you, and we will put a lot of steps in place to make sure we make a great team!
