Information for referrers

We value working collaboratively with GPs, paediatricians, psychiatrists, schools and other professionals supporting our clients.

If you are referring someone to ConnectEd, we aim to make the process straightforward, match them with an appropriate psychologist and keep communication clear throughout their care.

Making a referral

You do not need to identify the perfect psychologist before making a referral.

Send the referral

Send referrals to admin@connectedcc.com.au. You can refer to ConnectEd generally or nominate a particular psychologist.

We make contact

Our team will contact the person being referred, generally within 24–48 hours, to help organise their appointment.

We find the right fit

If the requested psychologist is unavailable, we can discuss other suitable options based on age, presenting needs, clinician fit and current availability.

The person you are referring can also contact us directly.

Finding the right psychologist

Our psychologists work across a broad range of mental health, developmental and life concerns, although the ages they see, areas of particular interest and current availability vary.

If you are unsure who may be suitable, send the referral to the clinic or email our admin team with some information about the person’s age, the main reason for referral and any practical requirements. We can help identify appropriate options.

Age, presenting concerns and the type of support required.

Approach and experience

We can help identify clinicians whose experience and style are likely to suit the referral.

Current availability

Clinical fit matters, but so does finding appointment times that actually work.

Fees and rebates

Referral requirements and rebate arrangements vary depending on how the person is accessing support.

Private / full-fee appointments

Available without a referral.

Mental Health Care Plans

Eligible clients can access Medicare rebates under Better Access.

Private health insurance

Rebates may be available depending on the person’s fund and level of cover.

NDIS

Support is available for self-managed and plan-managed participants. We recommend confirming arrangements with the plan manager where relevant.

Working together

Where appropriate and with the client’s consent, we welcome collaboration with the other professionals involved in their care.

Mental Health Care Plan referrals

For clients referred under a Mental Health Care Plan, we provide an acknowledgement following the first appointment and progress correspondence at the appropriate Medicare review points.

Additional communication can occur where clinically indicated and with appropriate consent.

Other referrals

We are also happy to collaborate with schools, medical practitioners, allied health professionals and other members of a client’s support network where this is appropriate.
